Family Medicine residents and faculty presented research posters at the annual Military Health System Research Symposium (MHSRS) held last month at Kissimmee, FL. Capt. (Dr.) Lena Nowacki, a PGYIII resident, presented the findings of a study on the development and psychometric properties of a new insomnia screening instrument. She was also the co-presenter of a posterthat reported on sleep tactics that could beefficiently taught to patients with insomnia inprimary care visits. Other presentations bythe family medicine residents/faculty includedanalyzing the prevalence and trend ofhypertension in young adults in the U.S.military and validating two abbreviatedversions of the Pain Catastrophizing Scalethat was often used as part of the assessmentfor Soldiers seeking treatment for chronicpain.

The ACOG Practice Bulletins are available through the MHS Medical Library's subscription to Ovid.
-Go to the MHS Medical Library Virtual Collection
-Click on Ovid on the right side under "Popular Resources".
-Click ok on the dialog box to go to a new webpage.
-Ovid will open. In the blue bar towards the top click "Journals".
-In the search bar type "Obstetrics and Gynecology". Hit the magnifying glass to search.
-Click on the result "Obstetrics & Gynecology".
-On the left side in the search box type "Practice Bulletins". Select "all issues" from the drop down menu. Hit search.
-The practice bulletins list will generate with pdfs you can download.

The US Preventive Service Task Force has created a free tool that provides evidence-based recommendations for screenings and patient education. It is very easy to use and also has a mobile app.
The Red Book Atlas of Pediatric Diseases is available through STAT!Ref, part of the MHS Medical Library subscription to TDS Health. The link to access the Red Book will prompt you to login with your Open Athens account before allowing you access to the book.
